EVERY CHILD IS PRECIOUS

“God puts poor people on their feet again, he rekindles burned-out lives with fresh hope, restoring dignity and respect to their lives”

LET US INTRODUCE YOU TO A VERY PRECIOUS BOY

JOHN MARK…

The KCC family keeps growing! On Sunday, 1st May 2011, at Nansana Township in Wakiso district, (about 5km from Kampala Children’s Centre) an 18-month-old baby boy was abandoned. KCC was informed that a baby was left on the doorstep of a unknown house in the community.  At around 8.30pm, electricity had gone off like it very often does in Uganda and Barbara (the lady who’s home it was) was planning to go out to the local shop to buy candles to provide light in her house. As she opened her door, she was surprised to find a baby, asleep on her doorstep!  He had been abandoned with a small bag containing very old clothes, with a note written in Luganda, reading, “I have abandoned this baby because his father does not give me help”.

The following day, on Monday 2nd, Barbara reported the case to the Police, who sent a team of officers to check the village in order to find out if there was anybody who knew the baby.  It was concluded that he was not known in the area.  Barbara who found the boy was asked to temporarily keep him, as the Police tried to locate his parents.  However, after 3 days of searching they failed to identify them.  The Police Child and Family Protection Officer requested the Probation officer of Wakiso District to find a suitable Children’s Home that would take care of the baby, and he was brought to KCC!

We have named him John Mark and he is now living in Lutindo House on site - he has already started to laugh with his new brothers and sisters!
